| sorry phil, the sailor id number is 5453 and the boat id number was the other one that i mentioned i hope that is correct. he is advertising on 7knots still, asking for two crew members to travel from isla mujeres to panama in his boat thanks for reading and replying just hope other people dont get the same problem |

On reading his profile there is a big hint for intending crew members in ones writings. I have never
come across such a rough and tumble attitude and to put it in writing. -- Well ! His attitude has transpired into his vessel.
A classic example of reading between the lines here. Although that is easy to say after being alerted
by Seanrich.
I feel for you, in paying those airfares. It's every crew members fear when responding on the internet from afar.

| The guy sounds like a typicalrookie cry baby he quit..He couldn't take the grind..knew nothing..undependible..Didn't know which way the wind was blowing coming out of Havana.. while I was fixing the main halyard. .Asked him what color the channel marker was, morning sun was blinding me, Iposted him on the bow, specifically for that reason. He gave me the wrong color..coming into channel..That was my mistake, I take responsibility...depending on him...There was no chart...Don't need the sea buoy on the south side of Isla Mujeres...off Punta Sur.. plenty of water..Navigated by site and chart.. I told him I wasn't going for the buoy.. when I saw it a mile off. My general "internal warning" is to find good crew...Portals leak in bad weather..So do all boats..but not the bilges..You need dependible crew in 14 ft seas..coming across the Yucatan..boat is always dirty after 24 hrs of 14ft seas..what do you think..At least he was good enough to mind the wheel while I got some rest..He got drunk in Cuba...lost his money..got caught in a rain storm and somhow in his convoluted thinking blamed me..for not taking care of him..That happens to rookies.. .Left Cuba before he quit then and there after a one day sail..We got into Isla Mujeres in record time..nothing broke nobody hurt..He got off before we were even secured..He speaks about safety issues .."He was just scared"...That's all.So I'm back looking for good crew...found it now I'm looking for a gal to cross the Pacific.Is this the calabre of sailors out of 7knots and Sailnet? He was a pleasant chap..and wished him well..but I am not going to take THAT criticism from someone so inexperienced that he was clueless to some hard sailing..and I might add undercrewed boat..Well I too learn from experience..Won't happen next port of call.
It's tireing and discouraging when you have to do everything yourself..Have to explain every little thing..When the weather at it's worst...Had to throw a piece of hardware to wake him up..derelict in his wheel watch..His excuse..He had a headache..Yeah I had a head ache to..but we averaged 5.5 knots from Havana to Isla..no thanks to him..My navigation in less than 48 hrs..My responsibility as Captain is to make sure things go smoothly..that's it...He didn't want to learn..So he quit...thats the bottom line |
