I would like to add, as a point of clarification and to give credit to 7knots’s services, that I did end up finding a well-intentioned and gentlemanly captain to sail with that summer...

Yes. My fiance, Joyce, and I met here on 7knots.com last May. We spent the first 2 months on the phone (Verizon cell, free after 9PM and weekends), then I flew to Orlando from Baltimore to meet her. We got on well, so she flew up to Chesapeake Bay to spend 2 weeks with me on the boat in September. I had to singlehand the boat back to FL while she finished up her job, and she joined me aboard Winnie the Pooh in January. We cruised the Bahamas for 2 months in the winter, then started looking for a waterfront home. Last month we found the perfect place for us on the Okeechobee Waterway, near LaBelle. Wedding date TBA. Thanks, 7knots.com!! Mark Richter

Not yet but have had some close encounters. I have used Match.Com, 7knots, and belong to the Singles of Sailboats in DC area. 56 year old retired exec., 100t license, retired Captain Navy, have web site www.cooper-group-ltd.com and have made 3 "recruiting" trips to West Coast. Roger

Yes, we met at work but the sailing and search for an appropriate boat brought us together.
We now both spend most of our "dream" time planning our cruising itinerary beginning in 2008.
Please feel free to contact me for any further info.

Hi Michelle Ray, I've just signed up looking for adventure. Thanks for the advice re lecherous sea goats. I'm still eager to sail the seas this side of the world, mainly because my love has just bought a 42' wharram cat and married himself to the sea in Oz. Any advice once on board? (other than a chastity belt!) and where is a good place to find the 'gentlemenly type'? At sailing clubs? from my experience not entirely.... happy sailing
