Yes, we allow our members to upload photos now, but only via entering Captain's Logs! One photo for each log and up to 65K in size for JPEG, GIF, PNG, and PJPEG formats for now.

Your uploaded photos can be used anywhere inside 7knots. For example, you upload a jpeg picture under Captain's Log ID: 1355. The photo URL will be: "http://www.7knots.com/log_photo/1355.jpeg"; you can enter it in your sailor profile or boat profile Photo Hotlink URL fields and in the description area as well. However, we'll disable remote loading. For example, if you send an email with the link "http://www.7knots.com/log_photo/1355.jpeg" inside the email message to your friend. When you friend clicks on the link inside the email, s/he won't be able to see it.

Q: 65K is too small, isn't it?
A: No, 65k is big! The cover page photo on 7knots is only 40K! You should do your home work to thrink the image size before you upload. It not only saves our bandwidth, it also help your prospective visitors too. If you have a MB picture on your page, people can and will turn away before the picture finsihing showing up. Imaging the visitor uses a dial-up line... you are shooting your own feet to include big images.
