Hey, And now info: Join me for a great cruise over the oceans: after 2years sailing, crossing Indian Ocean and South Atlantic, Tombatu has arrived in the Caribbean. Now she gets maintained and will sail around the Caribbean Islands from November on to Panama and at least for one year into the south Pacific. The Crew should be ideally experienced sailor, diver, we are on a cost sharing plan for food, diesel, permits and visas(around 200 US/month). You can join me in September in Trinidad and help with preparations and repairs, and making the final plan for cruising destinations. We love cruising with nice people, visiting interesting places, diving remote reefs, living independently, making new friends! Story of the boat. The boat is a 51 foot Center Cockpit Ketch. She was build in Taiwan in 1980 by Formosa Boat Building Co Ltd. She was delivered in the Philippines and has been sailed through South East Asia until 1998 by her former owner. I found her in 2009 on Rebak Island (Langkawi, Malaysia) on the hardstand in a poor and neglected condition, being there for the past 10 years. After more than two years of passionate restoration, she was not only back in the water but also back to her original shine. Since then, I constantly keep on working and upgrading her, combining the latest technology with traditional charm and craft. The boat is an extremly convenient and safe cruising boat, what she she had to prove in several occasions on my last trips. Most comfortable living for 3 to 4 sailors whilst cruising. The Center Cockpit house guarantees dry steering in any weather, the main sail and genoa have furling systems which are easy and quick to handle. Given the strenght and heavyness of the boat with 38 tons displacement, the boat is sailing surprisingly well even in light winds, cruising along with 5 knots in only 10-15 knots of wind. Instead of a diesel generator, the boat's power supply is independent and based on renewable and environmental friendly energies such as wind and sun. 400W Solarpanels and a 600W Windgenerator are supplying enough energy for hot water, fridge/freezer and television/video whilst on anchorage. Equipped with a water maker, the fresh water supply is autonomous, too. The boat is equipped with a MCH-6 Coltri Compressor with a filling capacity of 100 L/min . On board are Faber steel (10l), two Coltri alumininum tanks (10l) and one 12l aluminium cylinder to choose from. There is also a good range of scuba and snorkel gear available, underwater torches and underwater cameras. two dinghies and 3 outboards. Thanks for reading and let´s do it :-)
